The Golf 4 is the most branched generation in terms of engines: seven sub-pages, from the 150bhp 1.8T coded AGU, AQA, ARZ, AUM and AWD up to the 241bhp R32 coded BFH and BML, by way of the 180bhp GTI 1.8T, the 10- and 20-valve VR5 2.3 units and the 204bhp VR6 2.8.
