    Unlike many of its competitors, which machine their lobes from cast steel, CATCAMS cuts its camshafts from solid billet, which makes them far stronger. Most of the time CATCAMS camshafts are hollow, in order to reduce their mass.

    CATCAMS expertise in camshafts and their ancillaries (valve springs, mechanical cam followers, vernier cam pulley, etc.) has been recognised worldwide for many years, thanks to genuine know-how and detailed study of engines and applications. Every camshaft profile has indeed been developed both for the specific features of each engine and for the intended use (road, sport, rally, drag, circuit, etc.).

    Two parameters matter when choosing a camshaft profile: valve lift and the angle (opening duration). Longer opening duration increases power and torque, while more lift optimises power at high engine speeds.
