The 184hp BMW 220i G42 runs the B48B20A, a 2.0 16V turbo four-cylinder shared with MINI.
It is the only page of the 2 Series G42 to carry the COMETIC MLX head gasket, 83.5mm bore, offered in 0.81 and 1.02mm compressed thickness. Around it, the full rotating assembly: JE PISTONS, WÖSSNER and SUPERTECH forged pistons in 82 and 82.5mm, from 9.5:1 to 11:1; ZRP and BOOSTLINE forged connecting rods with L19, ARP2000 or CA625+ bolts; ACL RACE tri-metal big end bearings in standard size, HX extra clearance, +0.025 and +0.25mm. The 245hp BMW 230i G42 runs the B48B20B, a 2.0 16V turbo four-cylinder from the same family as the B48B20A of the 220i.

Sealing is a choice between the ATHENA O-ring head gasket in 83.0 and 84.5mm bore, 1.00mm thick, and the COMETIC MLX in 83.0mm, 0.91mm thick. Big end and main bearings come as ACL RACE tri-metal and as KING RACING with pMaxKote coating, in standard size, with HX extra clearance and oversizes up to +0.25mm. Two sets of forged pistons from JE PISTONS, JE Ultra Series and WÖSSNER cover 82 to 83mm, one of them drawn for a 100mm stroke crankshaft. ZRP and BOOSTLINE rods and ARP studs complete the page.
