Set of 8 reinforced exhaust valves for Honda D15B and D16A6.
The 1.5 litre D15B and the 1.6 litre D16A6 are Honda single camshaft, 16 valve four-cylinder engines. They power the Civic IV and V and the CRX II and III from the late 1980s to the mid 1990s.
They have 8 exhaust valves. On the D15B, the original part 14721-PM3-000 has a 5.5 mm stem and a 118.7 mm length, with a 24.9 to 25.1 mm head; it is held by the 14781-PJ7-003 collets.
On a naturally aspirated engine, the metal of an exhaust valve head reaches 760 to 870 °C, and more than 1,000 °C once a turbo is added. Heat leaves mainly through the seat, about 75 %, and through the guide, about 20 %. EV8 family steel is the benchmark for the original part: 550 MPa at 600 °C, 300 MPa at 800 °C. An overheating head fatigues, distorts and no longer closes its seat.
The SUPERTECH HEVN-1003 is made of black nitrided stainless steel, a treatment that hardens the surface and reduces stem wear in the guide. The FERREA F1857P and F1858P are made of Super Alloy, a nickel-based superalloy, in the Competition Plus range.
The F1858P takes the head to 26 mm: burnt gases leave faster and power increases, provided the exhaust seats are machined to this diameter.

Check the groove of the chosen valve against the original 14781-PJ7-003 collets before reassembly.
At 25 mm, the seats keep their diameter; with the 26 mm F1858P, the 8 exhaust seats are machined to size.
On the D15B, Honda fits the 12210-PJ7-003 and 12211-PJ7-003 valve stem seals (1988), replaced in later years by PZ1 part numbers.
| SUPERTECH Performance has been making racing valves and valvetrain parts in California for more than thirty years. For the D15B and D16A6, it offers a black nitrided stainless steel valve in standard size. | |
| FERREA, founded in 1978 by Horacio Ferrea and Daniel Urrutia, makes its valves in Florida and Argentina. For the D16A6, it offers its Super Alloy valve from the Competition Plus range, in standard size and +1 mm. |
The size decides the seat machining; the brand, the engines covered:
