The M62B44 is the 4.4 litre V8 of the BMW 540i E39, built from 1996 to 2003, and our selection for it comes down to four parts.
The JE forged pistons open the build: a 92mm bore, an 8.5:1 compression ratio, a 22mm gudgeon pin, and a fitment table that also covers the 740i and X5 4.4i. The set of sixteen ARP con rod bolts and the uprated ATHENA head gasket, references 330026R and 330027R, close the bottom end and the head seal.
