Set of 6 reinforced inlet valves for NISSAN L28E and L28ET.
The L28E is the fuel-injected 2.8 litre Nissan inline six with a single overhead camshaft and 12 valves; its turbo version, the L28ET, powers the 280ZXT. From 1974 to 1987 they are found in the 280Z and 280ZX, and also in the Cedric, Laurel, Leopard and Skyline R30, with 140 to 200 hp.
Their cylinder head takes 6 inlet valves with an 8 mm stem, one per cylinder. A turbo added to the L28E, higher boost on the L28ET or a sharper camshaft load them far more than standard use.
The inlet valve lifts on every cycle to let air in, drops back onto its seat and slides in its guide, dozens of times per second as the engine revs up. It runs at 400 to 550 °C; the standard chrome-silicon steel loses half of its strength between 500 and 600 °C (from 500 to 250 MPa), 50 %.
The FERREA Competition Plus valves are stainless with a chrome stem: they gain 20 % in hot strength and fatigue resistance, and the seat lasts 25 % longer.
The F1839P keeps the 44 mm head of the standard size, the F1840P moves to 45 mm (+1 mm). A larger head widens the passage at the seat: the cylinder fills better and the engine gains power, provided the 6 inlet seats are cut to 45 mm.

With the F1840P, the 6 inlet seats are cut to 45 mm; with the F1839P they keep their diameter.
Both part numbers are 114.3 mm long with an 8 mm stem.
| Born in 1978 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from the partnership of two Argentine engine builders, FERREA Racing Components makes each valve from bar stock forged in one piece, then machines it completely on CNC equipment. Its valves are used in NASCAR and drag racing. |
The groove is the recess machined near the end of the stem, where the collets hold the retainer; here only the size separates the two part numbers.
