Set of 6 reinforced exhaust valves for the Nissan VG30T (300ZX Z31 Turbo).
The VG30T is the 3.0 litre turbocharged V6 with one camshaft per bank and 12 valves that Nissan fitted in the mid-1980s, notably in the 300ZX and Fairlady Z of the Z31 series.
With one exhaust valve per cylinder it has 6 of them, with a 35.1 mm head in the version offered, an 8 mm stem and a 124.5 mm overall length. Sitting just upstream of the turbo, they take both the pressure and the heat of the gases.
As soon as a turbo is blowing, the metal of the exhaust head goes beyond 1,000 °C, against 760 to 870 °C on a naturally aspirated engine. The seat carries away about 75 % of this heat, the guide 20 %. An EV8 family exhaust steel is the comparison basis: 550 MPa at 600 °C, 300 MPa at 800 °C. Add boost and the head ends up fatigued, warped and leaking.
The valve offered is made of Super Alloy, a nickel-based alloy, and belongs to the Competition Plus range, which brings 20 % more hot strength and 25 % longer seat life.
With the F1846P the head grows to 36.1 mm: the burnt gases leave the cylinder faster and scavenging improves, with about 10 to 12 cfm of extra flow per millimetre of head. The 6 exhaust seats are then machined to that diameter.

Compare the lock groove with the collets you reuse before refitting the springs.
At 35.1 mm the seats are left as they are; with the F1846P, the 6 exhaust seats are cut to 36.1 mm.
Both part numbers keep an 8 mm stem and a 124.5 mm overall length: the original guides are fine if they are within tolerance.
| FERREA, founded in 1978, produces its valves in Florida and Argentina. For the VG30T it offers a Super Alloy exhaust valve, in standard size and +1 mm. |
As the material is the same, the size makes the choice:
| Criterion | Option 1 | Option 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Size | Standard, 35.1 mm Original seats kept. F1845P. | +1 mm, 36.1 mm More flow, seats machined. F1846P. |

With the heads of a VG30T off, it is the time to replace the inlet valves and the valve stem seals as well.
