    This set of 8 seals fits the 6 mm stem inlet valves of the Mazda 16-valve fours B6 (1.6) and BP (1.8): MX-5 NA 1.8 and MX-5 NB 1.8, turbo included, 130 to 214 hp, 323 IV (BG) 1.6 16V B6 and 1.8 16V Turbo 4WD or GT-R, 323 V (BA) 1.8 16V and 323 Station Wagon 1.8, from 1989 to 2005.

    The B6 and BP have 8 inlet valves, two per cylinder. The original seal sits on the guide and meters the stem's oil; SUPERTECH replaces it with the inlet-specific VS-TS6I, while the BP exhaust takes the VS-TS6E.

    SUPERTECH inlet valve stem seals

    An MX-5 inlet seal has one precise job on the BP: oil the BP's 6 mm stem in its guide and block the rest of the oil. With years of driving, the original B6 or BP rubber stiffens and leaks: an MX-5 oil level that drops fast, a blue cloud as the B6 fires up cold or pulls off after idling a while, carbon building on the 323's valves and plugs.

    On the SUPERTECH side, the VS-TS6I is moulded from polyacrylate (ACM) cut for the 11 mm guide and 6 mm stem of both B6 and BP; its outside diameter is 13.4 mm. The 8 seals of this lot cover a full inlet, the Viton VS-TS6E staying on the exhaust.

    The brand offered

    SUPERTECHFounded in San Jose, California, 30-plus years ago, SUPERTECH designs the MX-5 VS-TS6I within a competition range of valves, springs, guides, seals. Each VS-TS6I run starts with finite element calculation before renowned tuners approve it on test benches.

    Inlet or exhaust?

    For the B6 and BP, SUPERTECH splits the roles clearly: the polyacrylate (ACM) VS-TS6I dresses the MX-5's 8 inlet valves, while the Viton (FKM) VS-TS6E guards its 8 exhaust valves, with identical dimensions. Polyacrylate takes 177 °C (350 °F), Viton 204 °C (400 °F) continuous per SUPERTECH. A B6 or BP thus needs 8 seals of each type.

    When valve stem seals must be replaced
