Set of 8 inlet valve stem seals for VAG 1.8 and 2.0 16V KR, 9A and ABF, 7 mm stem.
This set fits the 7 mm stem inlet valves of the VAG 16-valve four-cylinders: the 136 to 140 hp 1.8 16V KR, the 136 hp 2.0 16V 9A and the 150 hp 2.0 16V ABF. They power the Volkswagen Golf II and III GTI 16V, Jetta II, Scirocco, Corrado, Passat B3/B4 and Sharan, plus the Seat Toledo I, Ibiza II and Cordoba, from 1985 to 2000.
Each head has 8 inlet valves, two per cylinder. The original seal caps the guide and only lets through the oil the stem needs; VAG lists it as 027 109 675, 16 pieces per engine.
On the KR, 9A and ABF, the inlet seal keeps the 7 mm stem under a light oil film, which the guide needs, and holds back everything else. With age and the heat cycles of the 16V, its lip hardens and then gives: oil drops between services, the engine smokes blue from cold or after long idling, and carbon builds on valves and plugs.
SUPERTECH produces the seal from a quality polyacrylate (ACM), matched to a 9.8 mm OD guide and a 7 mm stem. The batch of 8 handles the complete inlet of a KR, 9A or ABF; on the exhaust side, where temperatures climb, SUPERTECH uses a seal of another composition, sold apart.

| Located for more than 30 years in San Jose, California, SUPERTECH designs competition valvetrain parts, valves and springs first, then guides and stem seals. Ultrasonic, X-ray and laser checks verify each batch, which first-rank engine builders then refine. |
On the 16V KR, 9A and ABF, both sides take seals with the same dimensions yet in two separate compounds: polyacrylate (ACM) VS-VW7-I on the inlet, Viton (FKM) VS-VW7-E on the much hotter exhaust. SUPERTECH rates polyacrylate at 177 °C (350 °F) and Viton at 204 °C (400 °F) continuous. Each of these engines takes 8 seals of each kind.
