Set of 8 exhaust valve stem seals for the twin-cam Mitsubishi 4G63, 6.6 mm stem.
This set of 8 goes on the 6.6 mm stem exhaust valves of the twin-cam, 16-valve Mitsubishi 4G63, naturally aspirated or turbo (4G63T): Lancer Evolution I to IX, Eclipse I and II, Galant VI GTI 16V and VR-4, Carisma GT, and the twin-cam 2.0 Lancer, Outlander, Space Runner, Santamo and Dion.
The exhaust side of the head gathers 8 valves, two per cylinder. Each carries a seal fitted on its guide, holding back oil while still letting the stem be lubricated.
At the exhaust the seal clasps the stem of the 4G63's hardest-worked valve, swept by gases leaving the chamber, more so under boost. Hardened or cracked, it no longer holds the oil back: oil runs down the stem, burns in the cylinder and leaves blue smoke, a sinking level and soot across valve heads and ports. A slight trickle must still pass, failing which stem and guide suffer.
SUPERTECH makes these exhaust seals from Viton (FKM), a high-temperature rubber picked for long life next to scorching valves; according to the maker, the compound equips them for higher temperatures, and it is rated at 204 °C (400 °F) continuous. Mounted on a guide 12 mm across, they grip a 6.6 mm stem. Eight pieces cover the whole exhaust; the inlet gets a separate polyacrylate (ACM) set.

| A Californian designer based in San Jose, SUPERTECH has fed motorsport with valvetrain hardware for more than 30 years, stem seals among it. Every novelty is first modelled by finite element analysis, then run in rally, circuit and drag engines. |
Same dimensions on both sides, but much fiercer heat where gases leave the chamber: the exhaust therefore gets VS-M6.6E Viton (FKM), which handles temperature better, while VS-M6.6I polyacrylate (ACM) stays on the inlet. A twin-cam 4G63 head needs 8 seals of each type.

On the inlet the 4G63 uses 6.6 mm seals wearing at the same rate; swap them during that work. SUPERTECH supplies them here:
