ARP titanium rod bolt kit with nuts for Porsche RSR engines.
ARP lists this kit as the "Porsche RSR Ti rod bolt kit", for the Porsche RSR application. On ARP's website this part number is tied to no model, engine code or year, so the table repeats the application as ARP gives it.
This ARP kit 204-6004 is listed by ARP for titanium rods ("Titanium rod"); no ARP source states the original rod bolt, its part number or its diameter.
At every revolution, the rod bolt takes the pull of the rod and piston assembly, which tries to force the cap away through inertia. As original equipment, it is sized for stock power.
The box contains the titanium bolts and nuts intended for the rods. During tightening, ARP recommends checking the stretch of each bolt; if no gauge is available, the instruction sheet gives 67.8 Nm. Material: Ti6Al-4V titanium alloy heat-treated by ARP, with a nominal tensile strength of 180,000 psi (yield strength of 160,000 psi), very resistant to corrosion and about 40% lighter than an equivalent steel bolt.

ARP recommends tightening to a measured stretch, which gives a more accurate preload than torque alone, given as a fallback. Torque and stretch figures assume ARP lubricant.
The values above come from the ARP 204-6004 instruction sheet applicable at the date of publication; it is authoritative in the event of any difference. Read the ARP 204-6004 instruction sheet
The ARP instruction sheet does not require a thread locker for this kit; only ARP Ultra-Torque grease is applied, on the bolt threads as well as on the bearing face of the nuts.
According to the ARP instructions, the big ends must be checked and resized with the fasteners in place; plan a visit to a machine shop.

Stretch measurement supplements torque tightening and gives the most accurate preload. It is done with the bolt in place: the gauge, fitted with a dial indicator, bears on both ends of the bolt and shows the stretch achieved, to be brought to the value in the table above. This avoids the variations caused by friction, which matters on a highly stressed engine.
All the torque and stretch values on this page assume ARP assembly grease on the bolt threads and on the bearing face of the nuts; engine oil does not replace it.
ARP (Automotive Racing Products) came into being in the early 1970s, when Gary Holzapfel, who came from the aerospace industry, decided to tackle the engine failures caused in motorsport by inadequate fasteners. Today the brand produces thousands of part numbers in California for the cylinder head, the main bearings and the connecting rods, in materials suited to each application, with manufacturing known for its consistency.

On a highly stressed engine, a rod bolt that lets go can send the rod through the block. Fitting new bolts in advance is far cheaper than a rebuilt short block.
