This kit fits the inlet side of the 24-valve cylinder head of the 4.5 litre Toyota 1FZ-FE straight-six, the petrol engine of the Land Cruiser 70, 80 and 100 and the Lexus LX 450.

Toyota specifies a bore of 7.010 to 7.030 mm and an outside diameter of 11.540 to 11.551 mm for these guides. The engine has 12 inlet valves: the kit supplies 12 guides.

In the 1FZ-FE head, each inlet guide keeps the valve square to its seat on every stroke, conducts part of the stem's warmth into the aluminium and locates the seal. As wear sets in, the valve tips and closes imperfectly: oil slips into the chamber, top-ups become frequent, blue smoke leaves the exhaust and compression drops. Replacing the guides restores that alignment.

For these parts FERREA uses a copper-bronze alloy of American origin, hardened by an in-house thermal treatment cycle; the maker's catalogue credits it with better heat removal, wear endurance, high-temperature strength and lubricity. CNC machining to tight dimensional tolerances suits titanium as well as stainless valves. The kit groups the engine's 12 inlet guides, mostly fitted together with reinforced valves during a head overhaul.
