These guides fit the exhaust side of the cylinder head of the Toyota 1FZ-FE, the 4.5 litre 24-valve straight-six of the Land Cruiser 70, 80 and 100 and the Lexus LX 450.

The 12 exhaust valves each slide in a guide that Toyota specifies with a bore of 7.010 to 7.030 mm; this kit replaces all of them.

At the exhaust, the guide holds the valve aligned with its seat, drains the strong heat stored in the stem towards the head and houses the seal. Once it goes oval, the valve hammers on its seat, sealing is lost, oil follows the stem into the chamber and blue smoke, oil top-ups and lower compression result.

FERREA makes these guides from a copper and bronze mix of American origin put through its own thermal cycle, which according to its catalogue improves dissipation, wear life, hot strength and self-lubrication. Finished on CNC machines to close tolerances, they suit titanium or stainless steel valves. The kit's 12 exhaust guides cover the whole head and are most often fitted with reinforced valves.
