These seals fit the 5.5 mm stem exhaust valves of Toyota 24-valve V6 engines: 4-litre 1GR-FE (Land Cruiser, Prado, Hilux, 4Runner, Tacoma, FJ Cruiser, Lexus GX), 3.5-litre 2GR-FE and 2GR-FSE (Camry, RAV 4, Highlander, Previa, Sienna, Crown, Lexus ES, GS, IS, RC, RX, Lotus Evora, Exige, 3-Eleven, Emira).

On the exhaust, the V6 lines up 12 valves, two per cylinder, on its two heads. Pressed onto the guide, the original seal holds back top-end oil without starving the stem; Toyota issues it as 90913-02101, 90913-02111 or 90913-02112 depending on year, plus 90080-31043 and 90080-31101 on the 2GR-FE.

SUPERTECH exhaust valve stem seals

Exhaust-side, this seal operates beside the valve that lets the hottest gases out. Once hardened, split or flattened, it lets oil slide along the stem to the chamber, where it burns: repeated top-ups, blue smoke, black deposits across the valves and both manifolds. A thin trickle of oil must nonetheless pass, or stem and guide get damaged.

For this side SUPERTECH uses Viton (FKM), a heat-resistant compound valued for how it lasts near scorching valves; the brand calls it designed for high temperatures and rates it at 204 °C (400 °F) continuous. Each seal mounts on a 5.5 mm stem and a 10.3 mm outside diameter guide. The 12 pieces equip the whole V6 exhaust, across both heads; the polyacrylate (ACM) intake has its own set.

Operating from San Jose, California, SUPERTECH has spent more than 30 years creating valves, guides, springs and valve stem seals for competition use. Each new part number is first modelled using finite elements, then put through track testing with tuners.

Why two different materials?

The two seals match in size but not in working conditions, since the exhaust side runs at far higher temperatures. SUPERTECH therefore gives it the tougher VS-T5.5-E Viton (FKM) and keeps VS-T5.5-I polyacrylate (ACM) for the intake. A Toyota V6 needs 12 of each.
