Set of 12 reinforced exhaust valves for the Subaru EZ30 with variable inlet lift.
The second generation of the EZ30, Subaru's 3.0 litre flat six, gains variable inlet lift from 2003. It powers the Legacy IV, the Outback of the same series and the Tribeca.
Each of its two cylinder heads carries 6 exhaust valves, 12 in all, original part number 13202-AA530. The SUPERTECH version offered here enlarges the head to 31.5 mm and keeps a 5.45 mm stem for a 105.25 mm length.
On the exhaust side, a naturally aspirated engine keeps the head metal around 760 to 870 °C; a supercharger or a turbo pushes it past 1,000 °C. About three quarters of that heat, 75 %, goes back out through the seat, and 20 % through the guide. Taken as the benchmark for the original, an EV8 steel falls from 550 MPa at 600 °C to 300 MPa at 800 °C; the head then starts to fatigue, distort and leak.
The SEVI-1045D-12 is Inconel: this nickel-based superalloy keeps 860 MPa at 732 °C and 554 MPa at 816 °C, in the region of 85 % more than EV8 steel around 800 °C.
Its 31.5 mm head, 1 mm larger, opens a wider path for the burnt gases, with a claimed gain of 10 to 12 cfm per millimetre of head; the 12 exhaust seats are machined to that diameter.

On reassembly, make sure the collets seat properly in the groove of each valve.
With a 31.5 mm head, the 12 exhaust seats are machined before fitting.
Take the opportunity to change the 12 exhaust valve stem seals and keep the valves from the same set.
