Sets of 6 reinforced inlet valves for VOLKSWAGEN Golf 4 and Bora 2.8 VR6 24V: one set of long and one set of short valves per engine.
The BDF is the 2,792 cc VR6 with 24 valves and 200 hp, a very narrow-angle V6 block under a single cylinder head. It powers the Golf IV and Bora 2.8 VR6 from 2002 to 2005.
The head takes 12 inlet valves of two lengths: 6 long VW 022 109 601 F and 6 short 022 109 601 E, both with a 31 mm head and 6 mm stem. A complete set therefore needs one set of long and one set of short valves. Sharper camshafts, higher revs or forced induction load them far beyond standard use.
At every cycle the inlet valve opens to let fresh air in, drops back onto its seat and slides in its guide, dozens of times per second at high rpm. It works between 400 and 550 °C, a range where the original chrome-silicon steel falls from 500 MPa at 500 °C to 250 MPa at 600 °C: 50 % of its strength is lost.
For this engine FERREA offers its Competition Plus series, which the maker quotes as 20 % stronger when hot and under fatigue than its base valves, with a seat that lasts 25 % longer. All three part numbers have 3 grooves.
The +1 mm version takes the head to 32.0 mm, with stem and length unchanged. The wider passage at the seat improves cylinder filling and power, provided the inlet seats are cut to this size.

The +1 mm size needs the inlet seats cut to 32.0 mm, a workshop job to plan with the cylinder head rebuild.
The BDF takes up valve clearance with hydraulic cam followers: no adjustment is needed after replacing the valves.
| FERREA Racing Components has been based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, since two Argentinian engine builders founded it in 1978. Each valve is forged in one piece from steel bar, then fully CNC machined; the brand runs in NASCAR and drag racing engines. |
All three part numbers have 3 grooves; the size is chosen according to the condition of the inlet seats.

| Size | Standard size 31.0 mm head, long and short, for inlet seats still at factory size. | +1 mm oversize 32.0 mm head, short valves: more air in (about 10 to 12 cfm per mm of head according to FERREA). Seats to be cut; also makes up for seats already reground. |
