Set of 20 reinforced inlet valves for the Lamborghini Gallardo and Huracán V10.
Lamborghini's naturally aspirated 40-valve V10 first appeared as a 5-litre in the Gallardo in 2003 (codes L 510 and L510R, Superleggera and Spyder included). It grew to 5.2 litres in the Gallardo LP 550-2, LP 560-2 and LP 560-4, then powered the Huracán LP 580-2, LP 600-4 and LP 610-4 (codes CSJB, DKB and DKBA).
The engine has 20 inlet valves, two per cylinder. Its very high rev range, sharper camshafts or a forced induction kit make them work harder every time they open.
An inlet valve opens the way for the fresh charge, drops back onto its seat every cycle and slides constantly in its guide, at a temperature of 400 to 550 °C. A plain chrome-silicon steel then falls from 500 MPa at 500 °C to 250 MPa at 600 °C: it loses 50 % of its strength.
FERREA's Competition Plus, in stainless steel with a chrome-plated stem, gains 20 % in hot strength and fatigue resistance and extends seat life by 25 %. The SUPERTECH valve, in black nitride stainless steel, receives a surface treatment that hardens the stem and limits its wear in the guide.
The +1 mm SUPERTECH valve takes the head from 33.85 to 34.85 mm with the same stem and length: the opening at the seat widens, the cylinder fills further and the engine gains power, once the 20 inlet seats are machined to that size.
| Part number | Brand | Size | Head Ø | Stem Ø | Length | Grooves | Material |

The SUPERTECH valves have a single groove: they are fitted with KPR-6S-7 single groove collets, two per valve. The 3-groove FERREA valves keep the original arrangement.
With a 33.9 or 33.85 mm head the inlet seats stay at their factory size; at 34.85 mm the workshop machines all 20 seats.
| Since 1978, FERREA has made racing valves in its plants in Florida and Argentina. Its Competition Plus range combines a heat-resistant stainless steel with a chrome-plated stem, for road, track and drag racing cylinder heads. | |
| Based in California, SUPERTECH Performance has designed valves, springs and guides for racing engines for more than thirty years. Its batches are checked by ultrasound, X-ray and laser before they are shipped to engine builders. |
The groove is the recess machined at the end of the stem: the collets sit in it and hold the upper retainer. On this V10 the choice comes down to size and number of grooves:
| Criterion | Option 1 | Option 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Size | Standard, 33.9 or 33.85 mm Seats kept. F2286P*20, VWIVN-1002S-20. | +1 mm, 34.85 mm 10 to 12 cfm more per mm of head, seats machined; also restores seats already reground. VWIVN-1004S-20. |
| Grooves | 3 grooves Original arrangement, road use; new collets recommended. FERREA. | Single groove Collets clamp the stem, less load on the groove; single groove collets required. SUPERTECH. |
