This kit covers the inlet side of the Nissan VR38DETT, the twin-turbocharged 3.8 litre V6 with four camshafts that has driven the GT-R R35 since 2007, NISMO models included.

The two cylinder heads of this V6 hold 12 inlet valves, each running in a pressed-in guide; Nissan lists this inlet guide under part number 13212-58S60. The kit supplies the 12 guides of one engine.

FERREA copper bronze inlet valve guides

The inlet guide holds the valve centred on its seat, lets the cylinder head absorb some stem heat and provides the base for the stem seal. With wear, the valve gains play and lands off-centre; oil creeps down the stem, causing bluish smoke, higher oil consumption and lower compression.

FERREA produces these guides in a copper and bronze alloy of American origin, treated with the brand's own heat process which, its catalogue states, aids heat dissipation, gives good wear resistance, withstands high temperatures and keeps good lubricity. Tight CNC machining lets them run with titanium or stainless valves. Each kit contains the 12 VR38DETT inlet guides. They are usually installed alongside reinforced valves.

Standard or oversize?

FERREA offers this guide in a standard size and a 0.0254 mm oversize, chosen from the measured size of the guide bores in the heads.
