Opel's executive car, the Omega A replaced the Rekord E in 1986 and ran until 1994 as a saloon and an estate, before the Omega B took over. Car of the Year 1987, sold in Britain as the Vauxhall Carlton, it spanned CIH four-cylinders from 1.8 to 2.0 up to the straight-six, and reached its peak with the Lotus Omega.
