Set of 12 reinforced inlet valves for PORSCHE 911 996 Turbo and GT2 M96.70.
The M96.70 is the forced-induction 3.6 litre, 24-valve flat six of the Porsche 911 type 996. It powers the 996 Turbo and Turbo S, coupé and cabriolet, from 420 to 450 hp, and the GT2 with 462 then 483 hp, from 2000 to 2005.
Its two cylinder heads carry 12 inlet valves, two per cylinder. Higher boost, sharper camshafts or track use expose them to more heat and harder seat impacts.
The inlet valve lets the fresh charge in, strikes its seat at every closing and slides constantly in its guide, at 400 to 550 °C. At that level an ordinary chrome-silicon steel falls from 500 MPa at 500 °C to 250 MPa at 600 °C: 50 % less strength.
FERREA offers its Competition Plus range for this engine: a stainless steel built for heat, with a chrome-plated stem that slides better in the guide. The maker quotes 20 % more hot and fatigue strength and a seat that lasts 25 % longer.
The F2274P takes the head from 37 to 38 mm at the same length: air flows past the seat more freely, the cylinders fill better and the engine gains power, once the 12 inlet seats are machined to that diameter.
| Part number | Brand | Size | Head Ø | Stem Ø | Length | Grooves | Material |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| F2273P*12 | FERREA | Standard | 37 mm | 5.97 mm | 104.2 mm | 1 | Stainless steel, chrome-plated stem |
| F2274P*12 | FERREA | +1 mm | 38 mm | 5.97 mm | 104.2 mm | 1 | Stainless steel, chrome-plated stem |
F2273P is standard size and F2274P is +1 mm; both have a 5.97 mm stem, a 104.2 mm length and a single groove.

On reassembly, check that the collets sit properly in the groove of the FERREA valves and replace any that are worn.
F2273P fits original seats that have been recut; F2274P requires the 12 inlet seats to be machined to 38 mm.
| Founded in 1978, FERREA produces its racing valves in its workshops in Florida and Argentina. Its Competition Plus pairs a heat-resistant stainless steel with a chrome-plated stem, for tuned road and competition cylinder heads alike. |
The two valves offered share the same groove and length; the head diameter makes the difference:
