Kit of 12 inlet valve guides for the BMW S55B30, 5 mm stem.
The guides in this kit fit the inlet side of the cylinder head of the BMW S55B30 3.0 litre twin-turbo inline six, the engine of the M2 Competition and M2 CS (F87), the M3 (F80) and the M4 coupé and convertible (F82, F83).
Each of the 12 inlet valves, original part 11 34 7 847 034, slides in a guide pressed into the cylinder head; this kit replaces all 12 of them.
Set into the cylinder head, the guide keeps the inlet valve well centred on its seat, sends part of the heat picked up by the stem back to the head and supports the seal. With wear, the valve gains side play, closes off-centre and lets oil creep up: blue smoke, oil consumption and loss of compression.
SUPERTECH makes these guides from manganese bronze, a copper alloy which, again according to the manufacturer, conducts heat much better than a sintered original-equipment guide. They are generally paired with reinforced valves. This kit contains the 12 inlet guides needed by one cylinder head; the exhaust guides are sold on a separate page.
