Reinforced valve spring kit Toyota 2RZ-FE 3RZ-FE
Reinforced valve spring kits for Toyota with 2RZ-FE and 3RZ-FE engines.
- Brand: SUPERTECH
- Engines: 2RZ-FE 2.4 and 3RZ-FE 2.7 (Hilux, Tacoma, 4Runner, Land Cruiser)
- Springs: double
- Contents: springs, upper retainers and lower spring seats
Toyota 2RZ-FE and 3RZ-FE engines covered
The 2.4 litre 2RZ-FE and the 2.7 litre 3RZ-FE are Toyota four-cylinder engines with 16 valves and twin overhead camshafts. They power the Hilux, Tacoma, 4Runner, T100, Land Cruiser 90 and Prado.
The kit replaces the original spring together with its upper retainer and its lower spring seat.
SUPERTECH reinforced valve spring kit
Once the cam backs off, the spring alone returns the valve onto its seat. Once revs are high the valve is slow to follow: with too little load it bounces, shuts late or hits the piston, which is valve float.
Seat pressure: 343 N at 35.6 mm for the SPRK-EC3025D-2RZ and 480 N at 35.6 mm for the SPRK-EC3027D-2RZ, both with double springs.

The SPRK-EC3025D-2RZ and SPRK-EC3027D-2RZ both pair double springs, SPR-EC3025D or SPR-EC3027D, with RET-EC3020/T6P titanium upper retainers and SEAT-3020-2RZ lower spring seats.
By installed height we mean the space between the two retainers while the valve rests on its seat. The loads in the table apply at that exact figure only: a larger gap, caused by skimming the cylinder head for instance, lowers the load in step with the spring rate. The two kits sit side by side in the table below, height and load together.

Our brands
| SUPERTECH is a company from California that specialises in racing valvetrain parts and has served that market for over thirty years. Every series of springs is examined by radiography, ultrasound and laser before shipment, in order to reject internal flaws in the material. |
How to choose
More seat load keeps the valve pressed on the cam where the original spring gives up: a pushed-back limiter, a more aggressive camshaft, a turbo added without float. The two kits announce 343 N for the SPRK-EC3025D-2RZ and 480 N for the SPRK-EC3027D-2RZ, measured at the heights in the earlier table. Stay reasonable: a spring harder than needed ages cams and tappets sooner.
| Criterion | Key point |
|---|---|
| Choosing the pressure | The number of pounds, 77 or 108, is the seat load of the kit and the table converts it to newtons. To decide, look at the camshaft lift, the revs you intend to reach and the planned boost: the higher any of the three, the more load you need. Past that need, extra load serves no purpose and wears cams and tappets for nothing. |
| Kit contents | Both kits deliver the same parts around the spring: RET-EC3020/T6P titanium upper retainers and SEAT-3020-2RZ lower spring seats. Only the double spring differs, SPR-EC3025D in the first kit and SPR-EC3027D in the second, which explains the gap in load between them. |
When reinforced springs become necessary
- Camshaft with a higher valve lift
- Rev limiter you plan to raise
- 2RZ-FE or 3RZ-FE converted to turbo or supercharger
- Head rebuilt for circuit, rally or off-road work
- Tired springs, valve float before the limiter
