Toyota 2TR-FE engine covered
The 2TR-FE is a 2.7 litre Toyota four-cylinder with 16 valves, whose rocker arms rest on hydraulic lash adjusters that need no clearance setting. It powers the Hilux, Fortuner, Land Cruiser Prado, 4Runner, Tacoma and Innova.
The kit takes the place of the original spring, its upper retainer and its lower spring seat.
SUPERTECH reinforced valve spring kit
As soon as the cam lobe moves on, the spring alone pushes the valve shut. At speed the valve's mass resists: with a weak spring it bounces, closes late and may even strike the piston, hence valve float.
Seat pressure: 289 N at 37 mm for the SPRK-EC3025D-2TR and 378 N at 37 mm for the SPRK-EC3027D-2TR, both with double springs.

The SPRK-EC3025D-2TR and SPRK-EC3027D-2TR both combine double springs, SPR-EC3025D or SPR-EC3027D, with RET-EC3020/T55 titanium upper retainers and SEAT-3020-2RZ lower spring seats.
Everything hinges on one installation figure: the gap, measured with the valve closed, separating the upper retainer from the lower spring seat. Quoted loads exist only at that value; should it grow, after a head resurfacing say, the load falls in step with the spring's rate. The following table lines up both kits, heights included.

| Installed height | 37 / 37 mm |
| Seat pressure at this height | 289 / 378 N |
Technical guide
Our brands
| SUPERTECH builds competition valvetrain parts in California and has been established in this market for more than three decades. Each batch of springs is examined by X-ray, ultrasound and laser before leaving, to find any anomaly hidden within the material. |
How to choose
A heavier seat load pins the valve to the cam profile where a stock spring gives up: limiter pushed back, sharper camshaft, turbo fitted without float. Here, 289 N for the SPRK-EC3025D-2TR and 378 N for the SPRK-EC3027D-2TR, at the heights stated above. Stay reasonable: a spring firmer than the real need wears cams and rocker arms sooner.
| Criterion | Key point |
|---|---|
| Choosing the pressure | The pound value, 65 or 85, designates each kit's seat load, repeated in newtons in the table. To choose, start from three things: camshaft lift, targeted engine speed, turbo or supercharger pressure. When one goes up, the load must follow. Beyond what is needed, nothing is gained and cam and rocker wear speeds up. The two references differ only in that load and in the double spring producing it. |
| Kit contents | Each kit holds, at the top, the RET-EC3020/T55 titanium upper retainer and, at the bottom, the SEAT-3020-2RZ lower spring seat. Only one part changes from one kit to the other, the double spring: SPR-EC3025D in the first, SPR-EC3027D in the second. Hence the difference in load between them. |
When reinforced springs become necessary
- Cam profile more generous than the original
- Rotation ceiling you wish to push back
- 2TR-FE with a turbo or a supercharger
- Head reworked for racing, rally or crawling
- Sagging springs or valve float before the cut
