Cometic reinforced head gaskets consist of multiple stamped stainless steel layers held together by rivets. There are three types of Cometic head gaskets:

This technology requires lower head bolt torque specifications, reducing bore distortion and achieving better load distribution across the entire gasket.

• MLS: Multi-layer stainless (3-5 steel layers depending on gasket thickness) with embossings around cylinders and fluid passages. Equivalent to Athena MLS gaskets.

• MLX: MLS base with added reinforcement (folded steel layer) at cylinders and special high-temperature coating.

• HP: An MLX gasket with additional reinforcement layer for enhanced cylinder sealing (see below).
