The manufacturer lists these thrust washers for the Ford Cosworth BDA, BDB, BDC and BDD engines, as well as for the Ford 116E, 711M X Flow, 2735E and 751M four-cylinder engines. They fit the Ford Capri, Cortina Mk I and Mk II, Escort Mk I and Mk II and the Lotus Twin Cam 1500 and 1600 engines. The Cosworth BDA is an inline four-cylinder with a cast-iron Kent block, double overhead camshafts, 16 valves and a toothed belt; the BDA displaces 1601 cc and the BDB and BDC 1701 cc.

Thrust washers

The thrust washers take the clutch thrust and set the crankshaft end float. On a modified engine with a reinforced clutch, this thrust increases. The uncoated ACL version is offered in the original size and in an oversize of 0.005 inch (+0.127 mm).

Each half washer has lubrication grooves on one face. This face fits on the crankshaft side, with the smooth face towards the block or cap. Fitted the wrong way round, the washer deprives the crankshaft bearing face of lubrication and wears it quickly.

Before fitting, coat the crankshaft-side face with assembly grease. Check that the half washers in the block sit flush, fit the cap without forcing it and tighten it following the manufacturer's procedure. Then check the end play with a dial gauge and compare it with the manufacturer's value.
