Unlike many of its competitors, who machine their cams from cast steel, CATCAMS machines its camshafts directly from billet, which makes them significantly more resistant. Most of the time, CATCAMS camshafts are hollow in order to reduce their mass.

CATCAMS' expertise in camshafts and their accessories (valve springs, mechanical cam followers, vernier cam pulleys, etc.) has been recognised worldwide for many years, thanks to precise know-how and a detailed study of engines and applications. Indeed, each camshaft profile has been developed according to the specifics of each engine, but also according to its use/application (road, sport, rally, drag, circuit, etc.).

Two parameters matter when choosing a camshaft profile: valve lift and angle (opening duration). Increasing opening times increases power/torque, and increasing lift optimises power at high rpm.
