Unlike many of its competitors, which machine their cams from cast steel, CATCAMS cuts its camshafts directly from billet, which makes them far stronger. In most cases CATCAMS camshafts are hollow, in order to reduce their weight.

Each camshaft profile has indeed been developed according to the specific features of each engine, but also according to the intended use (road, sport, rally, drag racing, circuit, etc.).

Two parameters matter when choosing a camshaft profile: valve lift and the angle (duration). Longer opening times give an increase in power and torque, while greater lift optimises power at high engine speeds.
