Kit of 8 exhaust valve guides for the Toyota 4A-GE 20V, 5.0 mm stem.
These guides fit the exhaust side of the cylinder head of the Toyota 4A-GE 20V, the 1.6 litre four-cylinder with five valves per cylinder found in the Corolla AE92, AE101 and AE111, the Corolla Levin, the Sprinter and the Carina VII.
The engine has two exhaust valves per cylinder, 8 in all, each sliding in its guide: the kit replaces all of them.
On the exhaust side, the guide keeps the valve centred on its seat, carries the very high heat built up in the stem towards the cylinder head and supports the seal. Once worn, it allows the valve to chatter and hammer its seat, degrades sealing and opens a path for oil along the stem, hence blue smoke, oil consumption and falling compression.
Machined by SUPERTECH from manganese bronze, these guides transfer heat, according to the manufacturer, much better than original sintered parts, a real asset on the hottest side of the head. They are most often paired with reinforced valves. The kit contains the 8 exhaust guides, two per cylinder.
