The guides in this kit fit the inlet side of the cylinder head of the Honda K20C1 2.0 litre turbo four-cylinder, the engine of the Civic Type R FK2, FK8 and FL5.

Each of the 8 inlet valves slides in a guide pressed into the cylinder head; this kit supplies the 8 replacement guides.

FERREA copper bronze inlet valve guides

The guide keeps the inlet valve aligned with its seat, releases into the cylinder head some of the heat stored by the stem and carries the sealing ring. With wear, the valve starts to float: imperfect contact with the seat, oil drawn down the stem, blue smoke and compression that slowly fades.

FERREA makes these guides from a copper and bronze alloy of American origin. A heat treatment developed by the brand improves, in its own words, heat removal, wear resistance, high temperature strength and lubricity. CNC machined to tight tolerances, they suit titanium as well as stainless valves. The kit holds the 8 inlet guides of a K20C1 head and is usually fitted alongside reinforced valves.

FERREA offers this guide in standard size and in a 0.0254 mm (0.001") oversize, for a cylinder head whose guide bore has been reamed.
