Unlike many of its competitors, which machine their cams from cast steel, CATCAMS cuts its camshafts directly from billet, which makes them far more resistant. Most of the time, CATCAMS camshafts are hollow in order to reduce their mass.

The expertise of CATCAMS in camshafts and their accessories (valve springs, mechanical cam followers, vernier cam pulley, etc.) has been recognised worldwide for several years thanks to its know-how and its precise study of engines and applications. In fact, each camshaft profile has been developed according to the specific features of each engine, but also according to the intended use and application (road, sport, rally, run, circuit, etc.).

Two parameters are important when choosing the profile of a camshaft: valve lift and angle (opening duration). An increase in the opening times allows an increase in power and torque, and an increase in lift optimises power at high engine speeds.
