  • This forged piston from JE PISTONS is sold individually for the BMW M3 S65B40 V8. It shares the dimensions of the JE 371716 kit and lets you replace a damaged piston without buying a full set.

    Choosing the side

    On the S65B40, each piston is specific to one cylinder bank. Choose the left side (JE-371716L) or right side (JE-371716R) variant for the bank concerned. A complete engine uses four pistons per bank.

    • Accumulator groove: a groove between the top and second rings gives extra volume to blow-by gases, lowers inter-ring pressure, improves top ring seal and limits ring flutter at high cylinder pressure.
    • Pin fit: the pin bore is precision honed for an exact pin clearance, typically between 0.008 and 0.025 mm.
    • Skirt coating: reduces friction and wear on the skirt and cylinder wall, as well as operating noise.
