This set fits the 5.5 mm stem inlet valves of the Nissan VR30DDTT, a 3.0 litre twin-turbo 24-valve V6 found in the Infiniti Q50 and Q60, the Nissan Skyline V37 and the Z34-generation Nissan Z.

The engine has 12 inlet valves, two per cylinder across its two heads. Each takes an original seal on the guide to meter the stem oil; Nissan lists it as 13207-00Q0A.

FERREA inlet valve stem seals

Mounted on top of the guide, this seal lets only a veil of oil down to the stem; lacking it, stem and guide are soon damaged. Once worn or stiffened by temperature, it passes too much oil to the chamber: consumption rises, blue smoke appears at start-up or after long idling, and carbon builds up on valves and plugs.

FERREA seals are made of Viton (FKM), a heat-resistant rubber, with a built-in spring holding the lip against the 5.5 mm stem to help control oil use in tough conditions. The set of 12 covers both VR30DDTT heads on the inlet side; FERREA's exhaust seal for this engine is sold separately.

Inlet or exhaust?

On the VR30DDTT, FERREA provides two Viton (FKM) seals, each with a lip spring: one for the inlet (VS1034), the other for the exhaust (VS1033), whose valves face the hottest gases. Both suit a 5.5 mm stem but stay specific to their own side of the engine. This twin-turbo V6 needs 12 seals on the inlet and as many on the exhaust.
