    This set of 8 seals fits the SR20VE of the Nissan Primera P12, a 16-valve 2.0 with 5.5 mm stems, rated at 204 hp in the Primera (HP12) and Primera Estate (WHP12) built from 2001 to 2005.

    The P12's SR20VE has 8 inlet and 8 exhaust valves, all capped by SUPERTECH with the same VS-N5.5E seal. A set of 8 does one row; two sets of 8 equip the complete head. Each seal sits on the guide and meters the oil that lubricates the stem.

    SUPERTECH inlet and exhaust valve stem seals

    In the Primera P12's SR20VE, each seal leaves only a light veil of oil on the 5.5 mm stem and keeps the rest above the SR20VE guide. Repeated heat-ups of the SR20VE gradually harden the lip, which ends up leaking: the P12 needs oil between changes, a blue plume escapes as the SR20VE starts or moves off after idling at length, and carbon covers 16 valves and 4 plugs.

    SUPERTECH's VS-N5.5E, moulded in Viton (FKM), fits the SR20VE's 9.5 mm guide and 5.5 mm stem, with a 12.1 mm seal outside diameter. The same VS-N5.5E dresses the P12's inlet and exhaust: with 2 sets of 8, the whole SR20VE head is done.

    SUPERTECHFounded in San Jose 30-plus years ago, SUPERTECH, which makes the VS-N5.5E, builds race valves, each with dedicated springs, guides, seals. Each VS-N5.5E lot is checked by ultrasound, laser and X-ray, then recognised tuners approve it on dyno and circuit.

    Inlet or exhaust?

    On the P12 SR20VE, SUPERTECH relies on the VS-N5.5E alone: this Viton (FKM) seal covers the SR20VE's 8 inlet valves just like its 8 exhaust ones, with a 5.5 mm stem and 9.5 mm guide everywhere. SUPERTECH rates the VS-N5.5E's Viton at 204 °C (400 °F) continuous, a handy margin for the exhaust. Plan 2 sets of 8 for the SR20VE engine.
