This set of 8 fits the 6 mm stem valves of the Chrysler-sourced 2.0 16-valve 420A in the Mitsubishi Eclipse II (D3_A) 2.0 RS, 141 hp, built from 1995 to 1999.

The 420A has 8 inlet and 8 exhaust valves, all capped at SUPERTECH by the same VSI-M6E integral seal. A set of 8 equips one row of the head, two sets the whole engine; the seal fits on the guide and regulates oil flow to the stem.

On the Eclipse 2.0 RS, each of the 420A's 16 seals keeps the 6 mm stem oiled while stopping lubricant from reaching the combustion chamber. After 25 years and more the lip loses its suppleness and leaks: the Eclipse needs topping up at each 420A service, the 420A gives off bluish smoke when it starts in the morning or pulls away after idling, and the 16 valves and 4 plugs carbon up.

SUPERTECH produces the VSI-M6E, a one-piece Viton (FKM) seal sized for the 420A's 11 mm guide and 6 mm stem. The 8 pieces of this set go to inlet and exhaust alike: one part number serves both valve rows of the Chrysler engine.

Inlet or exhaust?

For the 420A, SUPERTECH uses a single part number: the VSI-M6E integral seal in Viton (FKM) equips the 8 inlet valves and likewise the 8 exhaust valves, with a 6 mm stem and an 11 mm guide. SUPERTECH rates this Viton for 204 °C (400 °F) in continuous use, a welcome reserve for the 420A exhaust. Order 2 sets of 8 for one complete engine.
