The G13B is Suzuki's 1.3 litre four-cylinder with 16 valves and twin overhead camshafts. With 101 hp, it powers the first and second generation Swift 1.3 GTi and the Swift cabriolet 1.3 i, from 1985 to 2001.

Its cylinder head carries 8 inlet valves, two per cylinder. Higher revs, sharper camshafts or stiffer springs expose them to more heat and harder seat impacts.

FERREA reinforced inlet valves

The inlet valve lets the fresh charge in, strikes its seat at every closing and slides constantly in its guide, at 400 to 550 °C. At that level an ordinary chrome-silicon steel falls from 500 MPa at 500 °C to 250 MPa at 600 °C: 50 % less strength.

FERREA's 6000 series is made from EV8 stainless steel that keeps 650 MPa at 500 °C and 550 MPa at 600 °C: 30 % then 120 % more strength than chrome-silicon steel at the same temperatures.

The F6767 has a head 0.5 mm larger than standard, at 29.5 mm: the passage at the seat widens and each cylinder fills better, once the 8 inlet seats are recut to that diameter.

F6767 is +0.5 mm: 29.5 mm head, 5.47 mm stem, 105.35 mm length.

Fitting details

On reassembly, check that the collets sit properly in the groove of the FERREA valves and replace any that are worn.

With its 29.5 mm head, the F6767 requires the 8 inlet seats to be recut to that diameter before lapping.
