Torque and bolt stretch

ARP 2000 bolts are tightened to 61 Nm, or by stretch control between 0.140 and 0.152 mm. The optional ARP L19 bolts are tightened to 67.8 Nm, or by stretch control between 0.152 and 0.165 mm. These bolts are 3/8": ARP 2000 suits builds up to 200 hp per cylinder and 8,500 rpm, ARP L19 up to 250 hp per cylinder and 10,000 rpm. Measuring stretch with a dial indicator remains the most reliable method: it reflects the real tension in the bolt, whereas torque depends on thread friction.
