Torque and bolt stretch

ARP 2000 bolts are tightened to 40.7 Nm, or by stretch control between 0.140 and 0.152 mm. The optional ARP L19 bolts are tightened to 54.2 Nm, or by stretch control between 0.127 and 0.140 mm. Measuring stretch with a dial indicator remains the most reliable method: it reflects the real tension in the bolt, whereas torque depends on thread friction.
