Unlike many of its competitors, which machine their lobes from cast steel, CATCAMS cuts its camshafts straight from solid, which makes them far more durable. In most cases, CATCAMS camshafts are hollow in order to reduce their mass.

CATCAMS expertise in camshafts and their accessories (valve springs, mechanical cam followers, vernier cam pulleys, etc.) has been recognised worldwide for several years, thanks to genuine know-how and a precise study of engines and applications. Each camshaft profile has indeed been developed to suit the specific features of each engine, but also the intended use (road, sport, rally, drag, track, etc.).

Two parameters matter when choosing a camshaft profile: valve lift and angle (opening duration). Increasing the opening times allows power and torque to be raised, while increasing lift optimises power at high rpm.
