Unlike many competitors who machine cams from cast steel, CATCAMS cuts its camshafts directly from solid material, making them much more resistant. Most CATCAMS camshafts are hollow to reduce their weight.

Two parameters are important for choosing a camshaft profile: valve lift and angle (opening duration). Increasing opening times allows an increase in power/torque and increasing lift optimizes power at high rpm.
