Unlike many of its competitors, which machine their cam lobes from cast steel, CATCAMS cuts its camshafts directly from billet, which makes them far stronger. Most of the time, CATCAMS camshafts are hollow in order to reduce their mass.

Each camshaft profile has in fact been developed according to the specific features of each engine, but also according to the intended use (road, sport, rally, drag, circuit, etc.).

Two parameters matter when choosing a camshaft profile: valve lift and angle (opening duration). Longer opening times allow an increase in power and torque, while greater lift optimises power at high engine speeds.
