This kit is intended for the exhaust side of the Nissan RB26DETT, the 2.6 litre, 24-valve, twin-turbocharged inline six of the Skyline GT-R R32, R33 and R34 and the Stagea WC34.

Its 12 exhaust valves slide in pressed-in guides, listed by Nissan as 13213-05U10 on the R33 and R34. The SUPERTECH guides in this kit take a 7 mm stem and measure 11.03 mm in outside diameter and 43 mm in length.

SUPERTECH manganese bronze exhaust valve guides

On the exhaust side, the guide holds the valve exactly in front of its seat, hands the intense stem heat over to the cylinder head and takes the stem seal. As play increases, the valve starts to strike, seating deteriorates and oil reaches the stem, resulting in blue smoke, oil consumption and loss of compression.

Closely machined by SUPERTECH, these guides are made of manganese bronze, a copper alloy that, as the brand says, sheds heat much faster than a stock sintered guide does. The kit supplies all 12 exhaust guides the engine needs; they normally go in alongside reinforced valves.

Standard or oversize?

Manganese bronze

Copper and zinc form the base of this bronze, completed with manganese, aluminium and iron. The resulting alloy is strong, wears slowly and resists corrosion, making it a common material for bushes and guide sleeves under high stress.
