Set of 12 reinforced exhaust valves for the Honda J32.
The J32 is Honda's 3.2 litre V6 of the J family, with 24 valves, one overhead camshaft per cylinder bank and VTEC variable valve timing.
Its two cylinder heads carry 12 exhaust valves, two per cylinder. The reinforced valves offered have a 28.0 mm head, a 5.45 mm stem and a 117.7 mm overall length, supplied as a set of 12 for the whole engine.
Sitting in the burnt gas flow, the head of an exhaust valve reaches 760 to 870 °C naturally aspirated and more than 1,000 °C under boost. It cools mainly by contact: about 75 % of the heat goes through the seat, 20 % through the guide. EV8 family steel keeps only 300 MPa at 800 °C, against 550 MPa at 600 °C; too hot, the head fatigues and distorts, and the seal is lost.
The HEVI-3228-12 is made of Inconel, a nickel-based superalloy whose strength remains 860 MPa at 732 °C and 554 MPa at 816 °C, about 85 % above EV8 steel around 800 °C. It suits a tuned or boosted J32 V6.
Its head is dished; the 28.0 mm size is the only one offered for this engine.

On reassembly, make sure the chosen collets match the groove of the HEVI-3228-12.
The 12 exhaust seats are checked against the 28.0 mm head diameter before fitting.
Each of the two cylinder heads takes 6 valves from the same set: identical 5.45 mm stem and 117.7 mm length.
