Unlike many of its competitors, which machine their camshafts from cast steel, CATCAMS machines its camshafts directly from billet, making them significantly more resistant. CATCAMS camshafts are usually hollow to reduce their mass.

CATCAMS' expertise in camshafts and their accessories (valve springs, mechanical cam followers, vernier cam pulley...) has been recognised worldwide for many years thanks to precise know-how and study of engines and applications. Each camshaft profile has been developed according to the specifics of each engine, as well as according to use/application (road, sport, rally, drag racing, circuit...).

Two parameters are important when choosing a camshaft profile: valve lift and angle (opening duration). Increasing opening times allows for increased power/torque, while increasing lift optimises power at high revs.
