    This set goes on the exhaust side of the 3.5 litre Nissan V6, in VQ35DE and VQ35 form: 350Z (Z33), Murano (Z51), Pathfinder (R50 and R52) and Teana (J33, L33).

    The 12 exhaust valves of the engine, six per cylinder head, each turn in a guide pressed into the aluminium. Nissan lists this guide as 13213-31U60, with a bore of 6.000 to 6.018 mm and an outside diameter of 10.023 to 10.034 mm; its repair size, 0.2 mm oversize, measures 10.223 to 10.234 mm.

    FERREA exhaust valve guides

    On the exhaust side the valve stem takes the heat of the burnt gas. The guide keeps it on the axis of the seat, carries part of that heat away to the head and houses the stem seal. If it wears, the valve tips over and closes badly, oil reaches the port: blue smoke, rising oil use and lower compression. A new guide restores sound clearance and a clean closing.

    In the FERREA catalogue the copper-based bronze comes from American material and receives a heat treatment developed by the brand: better heat removal, resistance to high temperatures, slower wear, a better-lubricated stem. CNC machining accepts titanium and stainless valves. The set holds the 12 exhaust guides of a V6. Reinforced valves usually go with them.

    Standard or oversize?

    FERREA guides are offered in a standard size and a 0.025 mm (0.001") oversize. Both sizes come in sets of 12, with the same 6.0 mm stem.
