Toyota and Lexus engine covered
The 2GR is Toyota's 3.5 litre 24-valve V6, sold as the 2GR-FE and the 2GR-FSE. It sits under the bonnet of many Toyota and Lexus models, among them the Camry, Avalon, Highlander, Previa and RAV4, as well as the Lexus ES, GS, IS, RC and RX.
On all 24 valves the kit replaces the original spring, upper retainer and lower spring seat; the factory collets stay. SUPERTECH supplies SPR-EC3025D double springs, an RET-EC3020/T55 titanium upper retainer and an SEAT-F4R-3UR lower spring seat.
SUPERTECH reinforced valve spring kit
When a valve returns late to its seat, sealing suffers and the piston may be brushed. Only a spring carrying enough load holds it against the cam without a pause, even at high engine speed; failing that, valve float appears.
Fitted at 37.8 mm, this double-spring kit develops 276 N (62 lbs) on the seat for a cam lift reaching 13.9 mm.

The SUPERTECH kit SPRK-EC3025D-2GR holds SPR-EC3025D double springs, RET-EC3020/T55 titanium upper retainers and SEAT-F4R-3UR lower spring seats. The original collets remain in place.
Without its height, a load means nothing: for this kit it applies at 37.8 mm, taken at rest from the lower spring seat's base up to the top of the upper retainer. When the head has been machined and the figure grows, the spring's push drops by its rate times each extra millimetre. Next, a table sets the dimension beside the seat load.

How to choose
To spin this V6 faster, or to give it a more generous camshaft, the original spring is quickly outpaced. This kit offers 276 N on the seat and accepts 13.9 mm of lift: check that yours stays below that before buying. Too much load brings nothing and speeds up cam wear; choose the level your camshaft demands, keep a margin on lift, and set your camshaft lift against the limit of the kit. The coils of this kit go solid at a height of 21.8 mm, and the stated maximum net lift is 13.9 mm.
| Criterion | Key point |
|---|---|
| Choosing the pressure | Target engine speed, camshaft lift and any forced induction dictate the load level. The higher these values, the harder the spring must push, without passing 13.9 mm of lift for this kit. Its 276 N correspond to 62 lbs. Pick the load from your camshaft, not from engine speed alone. |
| Single or double spring | Here, two springs per valve: an inner one nested in an outer one, sharing the load. A single spring closes each valve alone. The assembly stays compact: the two coils work one inside the other, so the load is shared by two springs rather than just one. |
When reinforced springs become necessary
- Camshaft whose lift goes beyond the standard one
- Rev ceiling lifted by the tuner
- Frequent track days or racing
- Forced induction added to this V6
- Original springs tired by time and mileage
