Unlike many of its competitors, who machine their cams from cast steel, CATCAMS machines its camshafts directly from billet, which makes them far more resistant. Most of the time, CATCAMS camshafts are hollow in order to reduce their mass.

Each camshaft profile has been developed according to the specific features of each engine, but also according to the intended use and application (road, sport, rally, run, circuit, etc.).

Two parameters matter when choosing a camshaft profile: valve lift and angle (opening duration). Longer opening times allow an increase in power and torque, while greater lift optimises power at high engine speeds.
