Honda engines covered
This kit is for Honda's 1.5 litre 16-valve engines in their L15A7 and LEA forms: the first powers the eighth-generation Civic, the second, paired with the IMA hybrid system, the CR-Z and the ninth-generation hybrid Civic.
Originally, each valve takes a single spring, numbered 14761-RB1-003 on the inlet side and 14762-RB1-007 on the exhaust side, an upper retainer 14765-RGA-000, a lower spring seat 14775-P08-000 and collets 14781-RGM-A01.
SUPERTECH reinforced valve spring kit
On these 1.5 litre Honda engines each valve counts on its spring to find the seat after the cam: if the load fades at high revs, the return drags, the valve floats and meets the piston. More load cures that.
The kit delivers 271 N at the seat at 40.2 mm on the inlet side, 249 N at 40.6 mm on the exhaust side, and 730 N at 10 mm of lift.

The SUPERTECH kit holds 16 SPR-H2416 springs, 16 RET-H2416 titanium upper retainers, 8 SEAT-A2416-IN lower spring seats for the inlet and 8 SEAT-A2416-EX for the exhaust; the original collets stay in place.
Take the dimension with the valve shut: it starts at the bottom of the lower spring seat (the ledge carrying the spring) and stops under the upper retainer that the collets grip, namely 40.2 mm on the inlet side and 40.6 mm on the exhaust side. Machining the head or the seats lengthens it, and the load drops accordingly: confirm it before any assembly.

Our brands
| SUPERTECH, a Californian maker with roots in motorsport, supplies engine builders with valvetrain parts. Its springs, in chromium-silicon-vanadium alloy steel, are computer-designed to keep harmonics under control; its titanium alloy retainers are machined on numerically controlled equipment. |
How to choose
Raise the seat load and the valve hugs the cam lobe well into the upper revs: the rev counter can go further, a livelier cam becomes usable and a turbo or supercharger is no longer ruled out on these 1.5 litre blocks. The single springs of this kit are meant for road, circuit and rally cars. Leave margin between your cam's maximum lift and spring crushing; ask your builder if unsure. A disproportionate load improves nothing and eats into cams and rockers; choose a sensible target, then note the figure measured on the head before final assembly.
| Criterion | Key point |
|---|---|
| Choosing the pressure | In lbs you read the load on the seat, expressed in pounds: 61 on the inlet (that is 271 N), 56 on the exhaust (249 N), and 730 N when the valve is lifted 10 mm. Before settling on a choice, note the lift of the cam selected and the revs you are chasing: excessive load adds nothing and damages cams and rocker arms. |
| Single or double spring | Bulk stays modest since every valve carries one spring only. Titanium is used for the upper retainer; the stock collets stay, and the kit brings two different lower spring seats, one per side, inlet and exhaust. |
When reinforced springs become necessary
- Cam lobes taller than the original ones
- Red zone moved above the factory setting
- 1.5 litre block fitted with forced induction
- Head rebuilt from scratch for the circuit
- Tired springs, valves floating at speed
