Nissan engine covered
This kit fits the 3.0 litre 24-valve V6 of the Nissan 300ZX Z32, sold as the naturally aspirated VG30DE and the twin-turbo VG30DETT and built from 1989 to 1997.
The double springs in the kit replace the standard ones, together with their upper and lower retainers; the original collets stay fitted.
SUPERTECH reinforced valve spring kit
Beyond the cam lobe's peak, the spring has to shut the valve and push it back onto its seat. Rising revs bring inertia into play: when load is lacking, the valve bounces, comes back late and may strike the piston. This is called valve float.
Seat load at 35 mm: 329 N (SPRK-TS1012-2) or 374 N (SPRK-TS1015-2), both with double springs.

Each SUPERTECH kit contains 24 double springs, 24 RET-NVG1015/T1 upper retainers and 24 SEAT-TS1015 lower spring seats; the original collets stay fitted.
Measured with the valve shut, installed height runs from the lower spring seat that supports the spring up to the upper retainer. Quoted loads hold only at that figure. If it grows, for instance after the valve seats are machined again, the spring relaxes and gives up load at each extra millimetre, according to its rate; see the table.

| SUPERTECH is a California company making valvetrain components for competition, with over thirty years in the trade. Its springs are drawn from chrome-silicon-vanadium wire, and each production batch is then checked three ways: ultrasound, X-ray and laser. |
How to choose
Heavier springs keep the valve pressed to the cam far higher in the rev range. Raising the limiter, fitting a livelier camshaft or turning up the boost becomes realistic with no risk of valve float. Both kits hold 329 N or 374 N on the seat at 35 mm, as the table above shows. What is left is to confirm the cam never opens the valve beyond what the springs can handle: 12.0 mm of net lift at most, whichever kit is fitted.
| Criterion | Key point |
|---|---|
| Choosing the pressure | The 74 and 84 lbs figures describe seat load, meaning 329 N and 374 N. To choose, line up cam lift, your target revs and your boost level: each increase calls for extra load, within the kit's lift limit. Do not overdo it, though, as springs stiffer than necessary wear the cam lobes sooner. Think about real use too, not only the peak. |
| Single or double spring | Two concentric springs sit on every valve, sharing the work and damping each other. A single-coil spring would remain closer to the original fitment. Upper retainers and lower spring seats are supplied with each kit. |
When reinforced springs become necessary
- Camshaft more aggressive than standard
- Maximum revs you want to raise
- Boost raised past the factory setting
- Head rebuilt for track or rally use
- Worn standard springs, or valves floating at high revs
