Applicable BMW and MINI engines
This set fits the inlet side of the 2.0 turbo 16-valve four-cylinders from BMW and MINI, B46 and B48 families: B46A20A, B46A20B, B48A20A, B48A20B, B48A20E, B48A20F, B48A20H, B48A20P and B48A20S.
Each cylinder head has 8 inlet valves, so 8 guides. On these engines the original BMW inlet valve 11 34 7 633 699 has a 30.1 mm head and a 5 mm stem.
SUPERTECH inlet valve guides
Seated in the cylinder head, the guide keeps the valve stem lined up with its seat, sends part of the heat it receives back into the head and houses the stem seal. As wear sets in, clearance opens up: the valve leans, bears badly on its seat and lets oil run towards the chamber, hence excess oil consumption, blue smoke and weakening compression. With a new guide the stem is accurately supported again, and the valve closes evenly.
This SUPERTECH set holds 8 guides, 42 mm long with a 10.045 mm outside diameter, bored for the 5 mm stem of the inlet valves, so it covers the whole inlet side of one head. Fitting it alongside reinforced valves is customary.
